Purpose and Objectives
This course aims to give trainees the essential education and training to skipper a pleasure yacht less
than 24 metres in length overall and up to 35 Nm from safe haven within the Mediterranean Sea,
without any restriction on engine/s horsepower.
On successful completion of the training and assessment trainees should be able to:
· Take command of a pleasure craft
· Conduct a safe passage plan and maintain a proper navigational watch
· Interpret meteorological reports and transmissions
· Comply with the requirements of the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea
· Respond to emergencies onboard
· Have a thorough knowledge of the relevant Maltese Regulations
· Have a basic knowledge of the mechanical and electrical systems onboard
Prerequisites
As a minimum the trainee must:
· Be not less than 18 years of age
· Be in possession of a Maltese Nautical Licence or an international recognized equivalent, for a minimum of 12 months
· Have a valid VHF-SRC certificate or a valid GMDSS ROC/GOC certificate.

Purpose and Objectives
This course is designed and specified for delegates who want to obtain a qualification to serve as Master on a commercial vessel of 50 metres in length and over. This certificate does not include an engineering qualification. Applicants who intend to act as both Master and Engineer on a commercial vessel will need to hold an appropriate Engineer/Engine Driver certificate.
Pre-Requisites
- Applicants must have a minimum of 24 months appropriate sea service,
- Delegates must be in possession of a Boatmaster Grade 1 Certificate,
- Delegates must have clean police conduct and a valid TM Medical Fitness Certificate.
In addition the applicant must be in possession of:
– Proficiency in Basic Safety Training Certificate (STCW VI/1)
– Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (STCW A-VI/2)
– Training in Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/3)
– Medical First Aid (STCW A-VI/4-1)
– GMDSS Restricted Operators Certificate (ROC).

Purpose and Objectives
This course is designed and specified for delegates who want to obtain a license to serve as Master on a commercial vessel of less than 24 meters in length within Ports, Internal and Territorial waters of Malta. This certificate does not include an engineering qualification. Applicants who intend to act as both Master and Engineer of a vessel 12-24 meters will need to hold an appropriate Engine Driver certificate.
Prerequisites
• Applicants must have a minimum of 24 months appropriate sea service,
• Delegates must be of 19 years old or older,
• Delegates must be in possession of a General Purpose Hand Certificate.
• Delegates must have a clean police conduct and a valid ENG1 Medical Certificate.
In addition the applicant must be in possession of:
• A marine radio operator certificate relevant to the radio equipment installed on board the vessel on which candidate intends to serve.
• A current approved first aid certificate.
• An approved Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificate.

In addition, candidates must be in possession of a ‘Commercial General Purpose Hand’ certificate, a valid ‘First Aid Certificate’ and an approved sea time of no less than 12 months working as a Commercial General Purpose Hand. Purpose and Objectives
This course is designed and specified for delegates who wish to obtain a qualification to operate a VHF with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capabilities on any Maltese register vessel. This includes both fixed and hand-held equipment using International Channels.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have a good understanding of the English language and preferably possess elementary computer skills. No pre-course experience or assumed knowledge is required. Delegates must be 16 years of age or older.

Purpose and Objectives
To provide applicants with a qualification to serve as an Engineer on a commercial vessel of 1,500kW (2039hp) and Over, within ports, internal and territorial waters of Malta.
The training course consists of two modules. These are the “Academics”, which consist of applied mathematics and physics. Students have to pass a written internal “Academics” exam paper prior to be able to continue with the other module “Engineering Knowledge – Motors”.
On completion of this course, it will equip the student with a firm understanding of the principles associated with marine engineering and engineering management practice on commercial vessels of 1500kW and Over within the Maltese internal and territorial waters. Delegates will be continually assessed against defined learning outcomes during theory lessons.
Prerequisites
- Delegates must be of 18 years old or older.
- Applicant must have at least 24 months appropriate service on vessels of not less than 400 kW. The Authority may consider a reduction in approved service where the applicant either holds a relevant qualification or has training or experience considered appropriate.
- Be in possession of a General Purpose Hand Certificate.
- Must have a valid Medical Fitness Certificate.
- Proficiency in Basic Safety Training Certificate (STCW VI/1).

To provide applicants with a qualification to serve as Engine Driver on a commercial vessel of less than 750kW (1005.7hp), within ports, internal and territorial waters of Malta. The training course consists of multiple elements developed to impart knowledge and understanding and competence to participate as an Engineer on commercial vessels of less than 750kW within the Maltese internal and territorial waters. Delegates will be continually assessed against defined learning outcomes during the practical and theory lessons.
Prerequisites
• Delegates must be of 18 years old or older.
• Applicant must have at least 6 months appropriate service on vessels of not less than 150 kW.

workshop support.
